The University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) provides resources and supports to students with disabilities as well as those with temporary injuries and conditions that may require accommodations in order to participate fully in all of UMBC’s programs, services and activities. We are guided by principles of inclusion, equity, allyship and universal design; all members of our diverse campus community are welcome.
**SDS BUSINESS CONTINUITY DURING COVID-19**
Our staff remain committed to supporting our students, faculty and staff during the transition to remote campus operations and online learning. SDS supports both UMBC Main Campus and UMBC-USG (Shady Grove campus).
All SDS staff will be working remotely to ensure that disability support services continue to be available. Appointments will be scheduled via Webex, Google Hangouts, or by phone since in-office meetings are currently restricted.
Staff will be answering email and voicemail messages Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The SDS front desk phone line is currently forwarded to staff remotely.
REMOTE ONLINE INSTRUCTION WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE SUMMER 2023 SESSIONS.
DISABILITY ACCOMMODATIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE PROVIDED ALTHOUGH ALTERNATE DELIVERY OR FORMATS MAY BE NECESSARY WITH THE CHANGE TO REMOTE COURSE DELIVERY.

- 猫咪加速器app: During remote instruction, you will NOT be scheduling your tests through the Accommodate portal since SDS will not be administering or proctoring quizzes, tests, or exams during remote (online) instruction. **However, please note that you should fill out your “semester request” for each session or semester so that we can send your accommodation letters to your instructors.

- Note that students may have time conflicts with scheduled tests in other classes, “live” online sessions, computer/internet access, or time zone differences. Please work with your SDS students to set an earlier or later test start time if time conflicts arise.

- Request disability services and schedule an initial intake appointment ONLINE through our Accommodate student portal. Use your myUMBC log-in for access.
- The Requesting Accommodations menu tab on this site provides registration information and discusses disability documentation.
- Follow up meetings and accommodation questions for registered SDS students can be answered by contacting staff directly through email, by contacting the SDS general email, or by phone call.
- All meetings/intakes will be offered virtually using WebEx, Google Hangouts, or by phone at this time. There are no in-person meetings (or testing appointments) due to the campus access restriction.
- If you are seeking accommodations for your initial UMBC placement test, please request and register for services using the SDS Accommodate portal. All efforts will be made to expedite these requests, although advance notice to arrange the accommodations with SDS and the Academic Success Center who administers placement tests is necessary.
